Invitation to the second workshop of the Nordic Network for Health Policy, Health Management, and Health Services Research

18-19 April 2018, Copenhagen, Denmark

There is a need for a common Nordic arena for researchers on health policy, health management, and health services. This need is particularly evident in light of the increasing importance of health to national and international politics, and the many recent policy initiatives and reforms changing the outline of the Nordic healthcare services. Through a Nordic network we can share experiences and broaden our knowledge base on health policy, management and organization. There are several reasons for focusing on the Nordic countries. Firstly, the Nordic region is interesting from a comparative perspective since the countries share similar histories, political cultures, demographics, economies, and health systems, yet have chosen quite different health reform solutions. Secondly, in perhaps no other part of the world has the wave of healthcare reform been more evident than in the Nordic region; the reforms implemented are quite radical and fundamental in the sense that they challenge underlying principles of the Nordic welfare state model such as equity and universalism.

With this workshop held at Copenhagen University in Copenhagen, Denmark on 18th and 19th April 2018 we aim to establish a Nordic network. The aim of the network is to arrange annual meetings and workshops to facilitate information exchange, plan and initiate joint research projects, promote comparative research, and encourage cross-disciplinary work. The network is open to researchers and students interested in health policy, healthcare management, and health services research.

We invite all papers that address topics related to health policy, health management, and health services research from a Nordic perspective. Deadline for abstracts is 15 January, 2018. Please send your abstract (max. 300 words) to: kavr@sund.ku.dk. Accepted papers will be announced 1 February, 2018. You may register to the workshop without presenting a paper.

The workshop starts at 13:00 (with a buffet lunch served from 12:00) Wednesday 18 April and will end at 16:00, Thursday 19 April, 2018. The registration fee of 1200 DK includes access to sessions, lunch, refreshments, and a conference dinner.
